Serviceability Mechanical Engineer

Contract | Onsite – South San Francisco Bay Area , CA

Seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead Design for Serviceability (DFS) for advanced automotive and robotic systems. This role focuses on evaluating access, maintainability, and repair efficiency for components—especially sensors, cameras, and compute hardware.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive serviceability improvements across engineering and manufacturing teams

  • Review part/assembly designs for access, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and replacement feasibility

  • Maintain Service BOMs and support service part strategies

  • Collaborate on integration of mechanical/electromechanical systems

  • Identify and guide development of specialized service tooling

  • Build cost/time models to support service optimization

  • Work with technical writers on repair procedures

What We’re Looking For

  • 4–6 years mechanical engineering experience

  • Strong service engineering background (DFS/DFR/field service exposure)

  • Experience with automotive or robotics/drone systems, especially sensors, cameras & compute hardware

  • Product design + manufacturing environment experience

  • 3D CAD knowledge (CATIA a plus)

  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering
